Educational Toys & Games
In 1970, Peter Pearce and Michael Bank co-founded a design and manufacturing company called Synestructics, Inc. The focus of the Company was to mobilize the practical applications of the theoretical work that Pearce had been developing since the middle ’60s. Although it was always Pearce’s intention to manifest his theoretical background in architectural-scale applications, the early work at Synestructics was focused on geometric toys, games, kites, and, later, playground structures. A number of innovative and sophisticated products were developed from 1970 through 1980. Under Peter Pearce’s direction, products were designed, engineered, and tested. All packaging design, graphics, catalogs, and instructions for a collection of building toys, games, and kite kits were created under his leadership. Numerous patents were granted during this period. The products generally fall into four categories: Geometry Kits (aka building toys), Games, Puzzles, and Kites. The company shut down in 1980, and its products have not been available since then.
